WGS Policy on Photos
WGS seeks to strike a balance between showcasing student work and protecting pupils:
Wood Green has consulted widely to ensure our use of photos and
video clips protects the privacy of our children. To this end the Wood Green
Web site ensures:
- A student's last name is never published alongside a photograph
- If a contact person is needed for a project, this will be the teacher, not the student.
- No identifying material will be posted on the Internet (such as personal phone numbers, home addresses, and individual pictures with the student's first and last names.)
- If class or group pictures are posted, it may mention names but not which individuals are standing where in the picture Class pictures will generally include at least three or more students
- If individual pictures are posted of students, it will not include their name
- Personal web pages will not be published from school. Where a web page is published, it will be based on the classroom curricula.
Video Footage of Pupils
The opportunities to broadcast 'showcase' pupil activities and share best practice are exciting and we will continue to conform to our policy of privacy for publishing work to the Internet which exceeds LEA and National guidelines.
Parents have signed a copyright release form which allows the school to publish photos of educational activities. Moving video is 'special' and so the school gains permission of parents and copyright release before publishing footage of pupils featured prominently eg speaking to camera in a clip eg for WGS News.
Comments of Complaints
If you have any concerns at all about our use of photos we encourage you to make contact. Please give the url of the web page which causes concern.
