It seems like only yesterday but the main WGS Web site structure has been in place since April 2001 - the year we won web site of the year.
6 years is a lifetime in IT. The web technologies used - MS FrontPage and tables are no longer current. Time for a complete revamp.
As a Microsoft Sponsored Specialist School it would be churlish not to make use of the successor to FrontPage: Expression Web. The transition has also involved learning and applying Cascading Style Sheets, dynamic web templates, XLM & XLS as well as ASPX.
For the moment the school site remains hosted on Linux servers but a migration to Windows server is scheduled for the Summer 2007 holidays after which we can begin to take full advantage of ASPX.
While I have taken the lead in redesigning the WGS web site, authoring and maintenance are a shared responsibility:
A big thanks to Mrs J Edwards who updates the news section and the team of Year 8 & 9s who give up many lunchtime to edit the gallery of pictures.
